Past Research

Chocolate Game

Research on the Chocolate Game, a variant of Nim (stone-taking games). Delivered oral presentations at the Mathematical Society of Japan and at JCDCG^3 2016, 2019 (peer-reviewed international conferences in discrete mathematics). Published in a domestic peer-reviewed journal. The web page about the Chocolate Game, created for the National Junior/Senior High School Web Contest where it won the Gold Award, is available here.

Research on Smart Light Interfaces

(Patent pending, Japanese Patent Application No. 2020-041424) Keywords: Microcontroller, Edge AI, Image Recognition, Deep Learning

Lightweight Inter-Agent Communication for Small-Scale IoT Devices

Keywords: Microcontroller, LPWA, Mobile Agent — B.E. graduation research

Analysis of Classical Japanese Texts Using Deep Learning-Based Kuzushiji Recognition

Image recognition of cursive Kanji characters (Kuzushiji)

Quantum Annealing and Combinatorial Optimization Problems

Solving optimization problems using Ising model mapping and developing OSS software for Ising models (QUBO) (R&D, Internship)

Compositional Analysis of Matcha Using NMR

Research on visualizing and quantitatively evaluating taste through sensory evaluation, and on the propagation of tea ceremony culture. Passed the document screening for the 8th Science Intercollegiate and selected as a finalist. In the interdisciplinary field of humanities and sciences.

Pascal-like Triangle and Fibonacci-like Sequences of Russian Roulette

Prior research showed that calculating the probabilities of Russian Roulette and arranging them produces Pascal's Triangle (by a Kwansei Gakuin Senior High School Math & Science Club alumnus). This research generalizes the number of players, cylinder size, loaded bullets, and even how many hits are lethal, investigating necessary and sufficient conditions for Pascal-like properties. Discovered through relatively elegant rules that Pascal-like triangles do not hold in certain cases. Gave an oral presentation at JCDCG^3 2017 (peer-reviewed international conference in discrete mathematics). Selected as a finalist at the 7th Science Intercollegiate. Gave an oral presentation at the final judging on March 3-4.

Ryuoh Nim (Variant of Wythoff Nim)

Research that began by replacing the piece in the well-known game Wythoff Nim with the Shogi piece Ryuoh (Dragon King). Obtained mathematically elegant results and received the Young Researcher Award at the 36th IPSJ Game Informatics Research Group meeting (an award recognizing outstanding researchers under 31 years of age).
